Edwards, a resident of Washta, and a second-year accounting specialist student at Western Iowa Tech Community College, was honored for accounting excellence, dedication, responsibility and ability to work well with others.
Edwards is a U.S. Navy veteran utilizing opportunities provided by the GI Bill. He retired from the Navy in 2003 after serving more than 26 distinguished years in military accounting and finance. He earned numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal. His tenure in the U.S. Navy included service in Japan, Scotland, and the Arabian Gulf.
He enrolled in WITCC' s Accounting Specialist program in 2005, and will graduate with an Associate degree this May. He is a member of Beta Zeta Mu, the college's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for community college students.
