HOLSTEIN - Battle Creek-Ida Grove won the girls division of the 2007 Galva-Holstein Relays here last week, totaling 867 points in the total team scoring format utilized for the track and field meet.
Hinton was second with 779, followed by Westwood 632, East Sac County 631, Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto 626.50, Schaller-Crestland 623, Lawton-Bronson 579.50, Galva-Holstein 562, Charter Oak-Ute 420, River Valley 418, Remsen-Union 407, Woodbury Central 316, Whiting 309.50, West Monona 275.50, Kingsley-Pierson 262, Odebolt-Arthur 139, G-H JV 117.
The host G-G girls claimed three first-place finishes, including Breanna Mathes winning the 800 meters in 2:35.35, the Pirates' 4x800 relay winning in 10:44.69, and the G-H distance medley relay winning in 4:41.10.
G-H's Jayde Boyle was second in the 800 meters in a time of 2:36.90, and Maddy McAreavy was third in the 1500 meters in a time of 5:52.48.
Meagan Meyer was seventh in the 400 meters in 1:11.87, Samantha Grayson eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18:11, Jamee Hunt ninth in the shot put withg a throw of 30-08 1/2, Mel Shoer ninth in the discus with a throw of 87-07 1/2, and Kirstin Wessling 10th in the 3000 meters in 15:49.02.
In the relays for G-H, the 4x100 shuttle hurdle unit was fourth in a time of 1:13.68, the 4x400 relay was sixth in 4:40.75, the 4x100 unit was eighth in 1:00.18, and the sprint medley was 10th in 2:13.55.
For River Valley, Kasi Byers led the way with a runner-up finish in the 3000 meters in a time of 12:23.76, with Samie Mayday placing sixth in 14:18.76. Maday also was eighth in the 1500 meters with a 6:10.34 clocking. Jody Peterson was sixth in ther 800 meters in a time of 2:45.61.
Also, Heather Husman was sixth for RV in the 200 meters in 28.23, Katie Carnes was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.49, and Emily Todd was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:18.91.
In the relays, RV was second in the 4x100 in a time of 56.11, fourth in the 4x200 in 1:58.16, fifth in the distance medley in 4:57.78, and sixth in the 4x800 in 11:37.80.
