G-H boys win Kraai Relays

Egger a triple winner for Pirates

HOLSTEIN - The Galva-Holstein boys stayed true to their school here on April 9th, winning the team title of the 2007 Russ Kraai Relays with 643.5 points in the total team scoring format.

Laurens-Marathon was second with 596.5, followed by Aurelia 434.5, Sioux Central 419, Remsen-Union 416, West Monona 389, Newell-Fonda 385, Woodbury Central 367, River Valley 364.5, Storm Lake St. Mary's 220, Siouxland Community Christian 176.

The G-H boys notched five first-place finishes on their way to the team crown, including triple winner Caleb Egger's 2:06.98 clocking in the 800 meters and 4:46.56 time in the 1600 meters, Aric Allen's 143-08 throw in the discus, and Jared Schlinz's 16.93 time in the 110 meter hurdles.

The Pirates also claimed the 4x800 relay, with Egger, Nate Braselton, Bryce Dean, and John Harris winning in 8:59.95.

The G-H 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay was second in 1:08.65 with Nick Andresen, Collin Bubke, Kellen Jacobson, and Schlinz aboard. The Pirates also were second in the 4x100 relay with Tanner Gebers, Dentlinger, Schlinz, and Radke clocked in 48.61. Allen also was second in the shot put with a heave of 42-03.

Nick Andresen was third in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 16.93, and Radke was second in the 200 meters in 24.73 and fourth in the 100 meters in 11.99. John Dentlinger was fourth in the 200 meters in 24.88. Kellen Jacobson was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.47, and Daniel Borchers was fourth in the shot put with a 40-08 1/2 effort.

Two Pirates tied for third in the high jump with Patrick McAreavy and Josh Werner each leaping 5-2.

The Aurelia boys earned one first-place finish and four runners-up on their way to third-place in the team standings.

Jared Bruce won the 3200 meters in a time of 10:26.33 for first place, while his brother Jacob was second in the 200 meters in a time of 24.55. Anthony Fowler was second n the high jump with a 5-4 effort.

The Bulldogs were second in two relays, including the 4x200 with Mike White, Fowler, Kyle Doherty, and Jacob Bruce timed in 1:39.42; and Mike White, Doherty, Jacob Bruce, and Jared Bruce timed in 3:54.42 in the 1600 meter medley.

Camrin Meyer was third in the high jump with a leap of 5-2, Steve White was third in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.04, and the 4x400 relay unit of Mike White, Doherty, Jared Bruce, and Jacob Bruce was third in 3:46.83.

Aurelia's 4x100 relay was fourth in 50.52 with Jacob Howey, Fowler, Steve White, and Doherty aboard.

Matthew Lundt led the River Valley boys with a second-place in the discus with a 128-01 throw, and third-place in the shot put with a 41-0 heave. Cody Holcomb was second in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.79, and Ethan Todd third in the high jump with a 5-2 leap.

The Wolverines were fourth in the 4x200 and 1600 sprint medley relays. Pat Brinkman, Matthew Lundt, Samuel Lundt, and Holcomb clocked a 1:43.09 in the 4x200; and Matthew Lundt, Samuel Lundt, Brinkman, and Chance Cullen timed 4:02.63 in the sprint medley.
