ORANGE CITY - The Le Mars Gehlen Catholic girls finished first in Class B at the Knight Relays here on Monday, edging a good Sibley-Ocheydan squad, 141-125.
Ric Collins' Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Eagles scored 63 points in taking sixth place. The Eagles' effort was led by second-place finishes in the 4 x 200 meter relay and sprint medley. Sophomore Alex Hoefling, freshman Jena Mittelstadt, freshman Ashley Weber, and senior Anna Klingenberg ran in the 4 x 200, in a time of 1:57.6; and senior Lyndsie Holmes, Mittelstadt, Weber, and Klingenberg made up the relay team in the sprint medley, which achieved a time of 2:03.6.

Third place finishes went to Klingenberg in the 400 meter run (65.6), and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams. The 4 x 100 team of freshman Megan Deichmann, Weber, freshman Melissa Tabke, and freshman Taylor Hanson ran a time of 65.5, and the 4 x 400 team of Hoefling, Mittlestadt, Weber, and Klingenberg ran in 4:34.7.
Eagle coach Ric Collins felt his team "did some very good things on a cool night," and was just glad to have been able to run the meet, considering the spring weather we've experienced so far. The Eagles hope to be able to run again this week at meets in Sioux Center and Hinton.
