WHS girls tennis loses at SL

SPIRIT LAKE - The vaunted Spirit Lake Park girls tennis squad shut out Cherokee 9-0 in the season-opening Lakes Conference match here on April 9th.

In singles matches for Cherokee, Lynn Leonard dropped a 10-1 verdict to Marci Doerr at number one, Shannon Schroeder lost 10-0 to Jordi Gerking at two, Kristine Reeves fell 10-3 to Kassie Hein at three, Jessica Cedar lost 10-1 to Cassidy Clarity at four, Michelle McGarry lost 10-2 to Katie Delaney at five, and Julie Lundsgaard dropped a 10-1 decision to Kelsey Kremmin at six.

In doubles action, Leonard and Reeves fell 10-0 to Doerr and Gerking at number one, Schroeder and Cedar lost 10-3 at two, and Lundsgaard and Korianne Aguirre lost 10-2 to Delaney and Kara Cosgrove at three.

The host Indians also won the JV match 9-0. For Cherokee, Demi Dunn lost 8-4 at number one, Sydney Morton lost 8-1 at two, Marissa Leissler lost 8-6 at three, Amanda Kohn fell 8-1 at four, Hillary Wilkie lost 8-0 at five, and Amber Melton lost 8-2 at six.

In JV doubles, Dunn and Morton dropped an 8-3 match at number one, Leissler and Kohn lost 8-0 at two, and Page Anderson and Aurora Buschkamp lost 8-2 at three.
