Both John Chalstrom, superintendent of the Cherokee School District, and Tom Vint, superintendent of the Aurelia School District, described the April 13th meeting of school board members and administrators from the two districts as "positive."

The visitors from Aurelia arrived Friday morning, April 13th, at the Washington High School library, and went on a tour of the school buildings, winding up with lunch at the Cherokee Middle School.

Chalstrom said that future sharing opportunities were discussed, and that the Cherokee District extended a proposal to the Aurelia District for a specific whole-grade sharing plan, in which each district retained separate elementary schools, while middle school and high school students would come to the Cherokee District.

Chalstrom said that he doesn't believe at this time that Cherokee would be interested in any two-way sharing, in which some grade levels from Cherokee traveled to Aurelia for classes.

Vint said that any response from Aurelia would be up to the Aurelia School Board. Aurelia school board members have also met with board members from Alta about whole grade sharing opportunities.
