Long-time Cherokee business closes doors

Monday, April 30, 2007

Quinn's Service Station, a long-time fixture on East Main Street in Cherokee, has closed its doors.

The liquor and wine store, which has operated next door to the station for many years, and also carries the "Quinn's" name, has also closed.

Bev Goslar, who has owned and operated the Quinn stores with her husband Jim since March 1, 1998, said closing the businesses "was a difficult decision, made with a heavy heart."

"However," continued Goslar, "In these economic times, it is extremely arduous to be an independent business owner in a corporate climate."

Goslar thanked all of her loyal customers, saying, "We appreciated your business immensely, and the friendships that have developed over the past nine years."

She concluded by sending this message to the residents in Cherokee: "Please keep your business local- the future health of Cherokee depends on it. Let's do it. Let's keep small town America' alive."
