Helen M. Rickett, 74, of Sutherland, formerly of the Sioux City area, died on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial services were held at the Sutherland United Methodist Church, Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Burial of the cremation ashes will be at Cherokee Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Helen was born Aug. 28, 1932 at Holstein, to LeRoy and Erma (Cipperley) Goettsch. She attended Quimby schools. She was married to Ronald R. Rickett on June 15, 1957 at Elk Point, S.D. She had worked at the Lamp Post Cafe and the Diamond Horse Shoe Café in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She had lived in Sutherland the past 10 years, prior to this in North Sioux City, S.D. for several years. She was a member of the Sutherland United Methodist Church. Helen enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching, flowers, and selling vegetables with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lorna Louise Goettsch and a brother, LeRoy David Goettsch.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald, and five children: DeAnna Marie (Kelly) Hardisty of Danbury; Marsha Ann Rickett of Sioux City; Kendall Lee Rickett of Sutherland; Suzanne Kay (Wayne) Davis of Aransas Pass, Texas; Cheryl Faye (Tim) Linafelter of Waterbury, Neb.; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; two sisters: Darlene (John) Sands of Moville and Shirley Prunchans of Council Bluffs; and special friends Bill & Becky Noreen of Sutherland,as well as several nieces and nephews.
