EARLY - The Aurelia Girls' track team posted several season-best times and distances, as they finished sixth out of 12 teams in the Schaller-Crestland Girls Invitational here on Monday. The Bulldogs scored 40 points.
Aurelia did not capture any first-place medals, but their sprint medley, 4x800, and 4x400 relay teams all posted season-best times in placing 5th, 5th, and 6th, respectively, in a strong field.
Coach Jolene Hultgren said the team's field events continued to earn the team points, adding "that has been a great thing to have this season." Hultgren said the team has been working to get the relay teams to the point where they can consistently get better with each meet, "and the girls are proving they can do that."
Individual Events- Long jump -- Priscilla Otto, 14-8, second place, and Tiffany Johnson, 14-2, fourth place; High Jump -- Ashley Anderson, 4-8, third place and Shelby Dierenfield, 4-6, tied for fourth; Discus- Kristine Munden, 91-11, sixth; 100 meter hurdles- Katee Dean,17.34,sixth.
Relays -- Shuttle hurdles (Jessica Cougill, Kristine Munden, Priscilla Otto, Katee Dean) - 1:10.66, third place ; 4x100 (Munden, Dean, Christa Corderman, Dierenfield) -- 55.16, third place ; Sprint medley (Munden, Dean, Dierenfield, Erin Laursen) -- 2:03.57, fifth ; 4 x 800 (Jessica Mann, Corderman, Leah Kai, Erin Laursen) -- 11:16.86, fifth ; 4x400 (Liz Laursen, Cassie Sleezer, Corderman, Erin Laursen) -- 4:47.47, sixth
The Aurelia boys and girls will run at the River Valley Co-Ed meet in Correctionville on Friday.
