WHS girls fall at Storm Lake

STORM LAKE - There were bright spots for the Cherokee Washington High girls tennis team in a Lakes Conference match at Storm Lake Monday night, but the host Tornadoes came away with the match by a 6-3 score.

In varsity singles action, Lynn Leonard lost 10-5 to Caren Sievers at number one, Shannon Schroeder lost 10-2 to Kelly Smith at two, Kristine Reeves lost 10-1 to Abby Smith at three, Jessica Cedar lost 10-1 to Sara Larson at four, Allie Parker beat Maddie Kies 10-7 at five, and Demi Dunn beat Katie Overturf 10-3 at six.

In doubles action, Leonard and Schroeder beat Sievers and Overturf 10-4 at number one, Reeves and Dunn lost 10-1 to Kelly Smith and Abby Smith at two, and Cedar and Parker lost 10-7 to Larson and Kies at three.

Storm Lake swept the JV match 9-0. In singles, Michelle McGarry lost 8-0 at number one, Julie Lundsgaard lost 8-2 at two, Sydney Morton lost 8-4 at three, Amanda Kohn lost 8-0 at four, Hillary Wilkie lost 8-1 at five, and Aurora Buschkamp lost 8-0 at six.

In JV doubles, Buschkamp and Allison Axiotis fell 8-0 at number one, Kelsey Raper and amanda Dittmer lost 8-1 at two, and Jenae Lundell and Amber Melton lost 8-0 at three.
