MMC golfers tumble at Gehlen

LE MARS - The Host Le Mars Gehlen Jays swept both boys and girls varsity golf matches from Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn here on April 27.

The Gehlen boys nicked the Eagles by just one stroke, 171-172 in the tightly contested match, and the Gehlen girls sailed to a 200-246 victory.

The MMC boys claimed medalist and runner-up medalist honors, with Jordan Petersen carding a 41 for medalist, and Jacob Lehnhoff also firing a 41 for runner-up. Other MMC scores were Jerad Letsche 44, and Tim Holmes 46. Also for the Eagles, Luke Dreckman shot 46, and Darren Morse 48.

Alex Pick was low medal for the Jays with a 42, and Alex Langel, Jordan Sitzmann, and Jeremy Rhoder each shot 43.

Gehlen also won the JV match 203-214. Michael Dreckman was medalist for Le Mars with a 48, and Nathan Wendt of MMC was runner-up with a 49.

Other low scores for MMC JV were Mitch Erdman 52, Chad Alesch 55, and John Zimmer 58. Dan Holmes also shot 58 for MMC, and Justin Cave shot 76.

Sarah Wells was medalist for the Gehlen gals with a 48, and her teammate Katie Freking was runner-up with a 50.

Low scorers for MMC were Katie Bauer 51, Jessica Zubrod 59, Beth Mohnng 64, and Robyn Cave 72. Catilin Johnson shot 75.

The Eagles did not fill a girls JV team and no team totals were kept. For MMC JV girls, Chelsea Beck shot 72, and Angela Pearson 78.
