Services will be Saturday May 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Rev. Armand Bertrand and Rev. Gene Sitzmann will officiate. Burial will be in the Maryhill Cemetery rural Cherokee.Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee. Floyd was born Feb. 22, 1919 in Rock Township, rural Cherokee, to Maydar and Anna (Henke) Lux. He attended school at Maryhill in rural Cherokee. Following his formal education, He stayed on the family farm to farm with his parents. On April 12, 1944 he married Mary Frances Lang in Remsen. They returned to Cherokee, where they were engaged in farming for many years, raising cattle, hogs, beans and corn. He retired in 1990 but still kept active helping his sons that were now farming.
He enjoyed wood carving, fishing, dancing, golfing and playing cards. Floyd was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and for many years a member of the Pork Producers and Beef Producers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Orman), a brother-in-law (Richard "Dick" Rupp).
Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael Lux, and his wife, Janet, of Cherokee; James Lux, and his wife, Cathy, of Ames; Mark Lux, and his special friend, Toni Hymans of Cherokee; Dale Lux of Meriden; daughters, Barbara Boersma and her husband, John, of Kearney, Neb.; Theresa Conley, and her husband, Steve, of Cherokee; grandchildren, Tamara Lux, Bryan Lux, Kristin Lux, Shawn Schmaderer, Chad Boersma, Maria Lux, Thomas Lux, Peter Conley, Calvin Conley, Gabriel Conley, Abigail Lux, Brittany Lux, Jaden Lux; great-grandchildren, Quinton, Naomi, Ashlynn, Garret; brothers, Paul Lux, and his wife, Nyla, of Cherokee; Joe Lux, and his wife, Janice, of Cherokee; sisters, Frances Ann Rupp, of Cherokee; Mary Lou Wiemold, and her husband, Joe, of Cherokee.
