Burk named Extension Specialist

Iowa State University Extension has announced that Jan Burk has accepted a position as Northwest Iowa Family Resource Management Field Specialist.

Previously Burk worked as a Community Resource Coordinator for Ida County Empowerment and as a Family Development Specialist for Mid Sioux Opportunity Inc. She also brings experience as a school teacher, nursing home administrator and social worker. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development from Iowa State University, and has received awards ranging from the "Who's Who Teacher of the Year" award to the "Corporate Award" from the Iowa Community Action Agency.

"I'm excited about working in this position because Extension gives you the flexibility to work with all individuals, of all ages and income levels," stated Burk. "Extension has a strong sense of teamwork, collaborating not only with members of the community but also with other agencies. You can see where you are making a difference in the lives of families."
