Elaine Flanigan, 50, of Cherokee, died suddenly Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center, Cherokee.
Services were held May 25, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Rev. Armand Bertrandofficiated. Burial was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee was in charge of arrangements.
Elaine was born May 10, 1957 in Cherokee, Iowa to Earl and Wilma (Leckband) Flanigan. She attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Washington High School in 1975. Elaine worked for Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in the dietary department for seven years. She later worked at the Cherokee Work Services and part-time at the Pizza Hut in Cherokee. She enjoyed playing the organ and helping others.
Survivors include her father; sisters, Kathleen LaFleur, and her husband, Don, of Minot, N.D.; Rosie Schlichting, of Cherokee; a brother, Robert Flanigan, and his wife, Janice, of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1996, and a brother, Thomas, in 1955.
