Wednesday, June 27, 2007

HOLSTEIN - The Galva-Holstein softball squad, which won an exciting 2-0 game on June 19th against River Valley, played - and won - another good game against a very fine opponent here the next night..

In this one, the Lady Pirates beat a very fine Ar-We-Va squad in extra innings, 2-1.

Brea Slaybaugh scored the winning run for G-H in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sam Grayson and Dani Boyle each went 2-4 at the plate, with Grayson driving in a run.

Freshman Jaime Christensen turned in another excellent performance on the mound - allowing just three hits, walking two, and striking out four.

Coach Scott Phelps said he and the other coaches were happy with the team's effort, as Galva-Holstein improved their season mark to 10-9.
