G-H Lady Pirates fall in 10 innings

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

BATTLE CREEK - Galva-Holstein coach Scott Phelps said that his Lady Pirate squad and the Battle Creek-Ida Falcons played a "terrific game" against each other in Maple Valley Conference softball action at Battle Creek on July 14th.

Unfortunately for the Lady Pirates , they came out on the short end of a 10-inning, 1-0 battle. Jaime Christensen did not walk a single batter, and struck out four, while surrendering only six hits in taking the tough loss for the hard-working G-HG club.

Allie Wagoner went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Lady Pirates, including a double.

Coach Phelps and the other coaches were happy with the team's efforts, especially the defense and pitching. He noted that the Lady Pirates "had our chances, but couldn't get the hit when we needed it."

The loss evened G-H's conference mark at 3-3, while dropping their overall season mark to 6-8.
