AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldog baseball squad didn't have many plays for the "highlight reel" in an 18-3, five inning Northwest Conference loss to Pomeroy-Palmer here on Monday evening.

Senior Tanner Winterhof started on the mound, but the Knights' hitting and sloppy play in the field by the Bulldogs led to a 13-0 Pomeroy-Palmer lead, and Winterhof and senior catcher Ross Fitzgerald switched positions. The Bulldogs scored a couple of runs, but the Knights got five more themselves, and the final score read 18-3 in Pomeroy-Palmer's favor. The Bulldogs committed an unbelievable 15 errors in the game. Freshman center fielder Matt Todd led the Bulldogs' hitting with two singles. Shortstop Jared Bruce had a hit, drew two walks, and stole three bases. Fitzgerald stole home for the Bulldogs' third run.

The Bulldogs wrap up their regular season with contests at Storm Lake St. Mary's and Wall Lake View-Auburn next Thursday and Friday, respectively, then play conference rival St. Mary's again on Saturday in first-round District Tournament action at Alta.
