Ken Slater took out Gene Anderson 3-2 to insure the championship flight of the annual Cherokee Sioux Valley Men's Amateur Match-Play Golf Consolation Tournament at the Cherokee Golf & Country Club Saturday. Both are from Cherokee.
The tournament is comprised of all golfers who missed the qualifying cut for the Sioux Valley Amateur Men's Match-Play Tournament played the week before.
John Curry kept it in the Fareway to win the first flight with a 1-up victory over Ken File, both men also Cherokee residents.

In second flight action, John Grant beat Steve Bechtel 1-up in another all-Cherokee match, and Dan Winchell of Cherokee subwayed Tropical Hunk Pinky Green of St. Croix, V.I. 1-up for third flight honors.
With a huge gallery following every ebb and flow of this high-powered, intense match-up, Bruce Linn rallied to floor Gentleman Farmer Neal Rogge 1-up and tack down fourth flight honors in another all-Cherokee battle that the course really won.
