G-H rebounds against K-P, 4-2

"It was one of those nights where not many things go right," was Galva-Holstein softball coach Scott Phelps' capsule summary of his team's 13-0 loss to a strong Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto team last Wednesday night.

Heather Joslin's single was the lone hit for the Lady Pirates. Jaime Christensen took the loss on the mound for Coach Phelps' squad, walking three and striking out a pair of Rams.

The Lady Pirates and the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers put on a good display of Maple Valley Conference softball on Thursday, with the Galva-Holstein squad winning the game, 4-2.

Freshman pitcher Jaime Christensen again came through with a solid performance on the mound for G-H, giving up eight hits, walking one, and striking out four in seven innings. Kristina Harris went 3-4 at the plate, including a double, for Coach Scott Phelps' Lady Pirates. Allie Wagoner, with a double, and Heather Joslin, who had two RBI, also stood out for Galva-Holstein.

Phelps felt his team gave a "solid effort from top to bottom," adding "the kids are starting to hit the ball hard, and put it into play. The defense and the pitching were (also) solid all night."

Galva-Holstein's record now stands at 14-12 overall and 5-4 in the conference.
