Little Sioux Fishing Club to host event at Correctionville
CORRECTIONVILLE - The Little Sioux Fishing Club of Correctionville will hold its second "All-Night" Catfish Tournament of the summer beginning Saturday night, July 21.
Registration will be from 4-6 p.m. July 21 at Little Sioux Park located south of Correctionville. Weigh-in will be Sunday morning at Little Sioux Park. All teams must weigh in their own fish.
As in the past, this will be a team tournament. A team may consist of up to four members, but may be as small as a one-man team. Entry fee is $5 per team member. Payback will be based on the number of participants. All teams must register themselves, and they must be registered before they start to fish.
To be eligible for one of the five cash prizes, a team must weigh in a stringer of five catfish. Minimum length on the fish is 15 inches. The fish must be caught in the stretch of the Little Sioux River from Cherokee to Smithland. All fish must be caught on rod and reel. All other fishing an boating regulations apply. All stringers must be weighed in by 10 a.m. Sunday morning. No late weigh-ins will be accepted.
In addition to the tournament for the heaviest stringers of catfish, there will also be a tournament for the heaviest carp caught by an individual. This tournament will run at the same time as the catfish tournament. The entry fee for that contest is $1 per person. The carp must also be weighed in by 10 a.m. Sunday, July 22.
The first all-night tournament in June had nearly 90 individuals enter. The winning stringer for that tournament weighed more than 30 pounds, and included a channel catfish that weighed more than 13 pounds.
