Alta girls beat Aurelia in 5 innings

AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldogs and Alta Cyclones met on the softball field here July 9th in a regular season Northwest Conference matchup, and the Cyclones took it to their neighbor, winning 11-0 in five innings.

Jessy Bibler started on the mound for Alta, and was replaced by Turnquist with one out in the fourth after Kristine Munden's hard grounder to the mound ricocheted off Bibler's glove, striking her on the face. Bibler later re-entered the game. Combined, Bibler and Turnquist shut out the Bulldogs on two hits and struck out four.

The Cyclones had 10 hits, led by centerfielder Lorrie Payne's three base knocks. Heschke and Glienke each had two hits.

Emily Rohlk started on the mound for the Bulldogs, who finish their regular season at home on July 11th against Wall Lake View-Auburn. The Bulldog girls will take on Galva-Holstein in the Class 1A District Semifinal game at Galva on Saturday July 14th.
