WHS girls tumble at Spencer

SPENCER - The Cherokee Washington High softball team dropped an 8-3 Lakes Conference game at Spencer June 29.

Cherokee tallied three runs on nine hits and committed a whopping 10 errors in the contest.

Leading hitters for the WHS girls were Alanna Valentine - 2-2 with two doubles and a run scored; Emily Anderson - 2-2 with a run scored; Shauna Drefke 1-3 with a double; Kelsey Essick 1-3 with a double; Lacie Drennan 1-2 with an RBI; Kylie Dilla 1-4 with an RBI and run scored; and Lynn Carlson 1-3.

Drefke took the pitching loss for Cherokee, giving up eight runs on eight hits and one walk, with one strikeout.

"We had too many errors to win this game," said Cherokee coach Tara Malausky.

Cherokee has finished regular season play and takes a 12-21 record into Class 2A District action against rated Battle Creek-Ida Grove in Battle Creek.
