Dilla, Phipps earn Honorable Mention

The Cherokee Washington High girls softball team landed two players on the All-Lakes Conference second team for the 2007 season, and two players received Honorable Mention.

Sophomore first baseman Lynn Carlson and junior utility player Lacie Drennan earned second team All-Lakes honors, while senior infielder Kylie Dilla, and senior catcher Sam Phipps earned Honorable Mention.

Lakes champion Estherville-LC placed five players on the first team, and runner-up Storm Lake landed four on the first unit.

First-team selections included junior pitcher Amanda Christensen, junior catcher Kristi Juergens, junior outfielder Erin Beardsley, senior infielder Ricca Soper, and junior infielder Christa Slayton of E-LC; senior pitcher Morgan Darrow, freshman catcher Slone Masters, junior first baseman Amanda Proczak, and junior outfielder Michaela Brungardt of Storm Lake; junior first baseman Stephanie Kommes, sophomore outifelder Emily TeBrink, and senior infielder Kayla Clearey of Le Mars; junior outfielder Kelli Carsten, and junior infielder Emily Beaton of Spencer; senior utility Allison Youngers of Sheldon; senior utility Jordi gerking of Spirit Lake; and freshman pitcher Maddy Woodruff of Emmetsburg.

E-LC won the Lakes Conference with a 15-1 record and 30-9 over all, followed by Storm Lake 14-2 and 33-7, Spencer 12-4 and 24-11, Le Mars 8-7 and 22-14, Sheldon 7-9 and 18-15, Emmetsburg 6-9 and 16-19, Cherokee 4-12 and 12-21, Spirit Lake 3-13 and 9-28, and Hull Western Christian 2-14 and 3-26.
