Cherokee senior Cory Ege, one of the most decorated baseball players in Cherokee Braves history, received another high honor last week when he was named to the Iowa Baseball Coaches Assocation All-State Super Team.
The team features 16 Iowa players the IBCA has identified as the best in the state, regardless of class (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A). Ege and the State Champion Cherokee Braves competed in Class 2A this past season.
Ege, a pitcher/shortstop with outstanding credentials, was named to the elite team as a utility player. His teammate, junior pitcher/infielder Kyle Ruehle, earned a second team 2A berth as a pitcher. Ruehle batted over .400 and was 9-1 on the mound this season, and Ege hit over .500 and posted a 10-0 pitching record.
