Darla Struck has been promoted to director of the Cherokee Campus and Northern Service Areas for Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC).

Struck, who has served as WITCC's Cherokee campus services coordinator since June 2006, will begin her expanded responsibilities immediately and will be based at the Cherokee campus. Her new duties include the oversight of all personnel, facilities, budgets, advertising, advisory boards and activities for the Cherokee and Le Mars campuses.

Nancy Muecke, associate dean of instruction at WITCC, noted that "Darla has done a tremendous job of coordinating WITCC's instruction and services for residents of Cherokee. We are confident she can help us grow our relationships with residents in Le Mars, and more effectively serve their education and training needs."

Struck is a graduate of Pella Christian High School, Pella, Iowa. She earned her bachelor's degree in English, music and secondary education from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and her master's degree in mass communication from Iowa State University, Ames.

Previously, Struck was an adjunct instructor of public speaking and foundation classes in reading and writing at WITCC's Cherokee campus. Struck has also been employed as office manager at The Chronicle, Cherokee, and as an editor of newsletters and manuals for Aspen Publishers, a company specializing in non-profit management and fundraising.
