Paul Pingel is currently serving on the Aurelia School Citizen's Advisory Committee, and the 1993 Aurelia High School graduate feels that he is ready to take the next step and run for election to the Board of Education himself.
Pingel is the only candidate in the September 11 election for the Board position currently held by Keith Glienke. Glienke is stepping down after 12 years of service on the Aurelia Board.
Pingel is a 1998 Iowa State graduate who majored in Ag Studies and minored in Ag Systems Technology at Ames. He is now self-employed as a partner in Pingel Farms with his father and his brother Wayne.
Paul and his wife, Karrie, have two daughters, seven-year-old Kassidy and four-year-old Alexis, and one son, Lance, who will soon turn 2. Pingel said that his number one priority as a member of the Board of Education will be to maintain the excellent educational quality of the Aurelia school system for his children and their classmates.
He feels that the ongoing talks with neighboring districts regarding possible sharing will be the main issue facing Board members over the next few years, and he wants to be involved in those discussions and decisions.
