Irene G. Henning, 88, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Aug. 28, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Irene was born Feb. 14, 1919 in Newark, England, daughter of James W. and Lilian M. (Jeal) Shaw. She graduated from high school in Newark and then attended business school for two years.
She met her husband to be, Robert Earl Henning, while Robert was stationed in England with the U.S. Air force and on Nov. 14, 1944 they were united in marriage. She came to Eldora to be with her husband in 1946 and in 1956 she became a United States citizen.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for Dayco Products for 20 years retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading mysteries and walking.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert on May 15, 1998; her parents; and four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Henning and his wife Sandy of Eldora; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Floyd) Reinert of Cherokee; nephew, Mike (Michelle) Wilson and family of Ames; and several nieces and nephews in England.
