Duane W. Matzdorff, 73, of Loveland, Colo. died on Aug. 10, 2007 at the Medical Center of the Rockies. A memorial service was held on Aug. 15 at the Zion Lutheran Church. At the family's request there was no viewing. A Private graveside services was held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
Duane was born in 1933 in Aurelia to Emil and Goldie Matzdorff. He grew up in the Iowa area and graduated from Brooke High School in Brooke Township in Buena Vista County.
He moved form Moville to Loveland, Colo. in 1962 and began working for the Wonder Bread Co. from 1962 to 1968. He then went to work for the Public Service Co. from 1968 to 1994, retiring after 26 years. He was a credit representative for them.
He met LaVina and they were married in Loveland on Sept. 3, 1982. He loved his family.
He also loved his yard, dancing, music, cars and socializing with people. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Public Service retirement group.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Darrell.
He is survived by his loving wife, LaVina of Loveland, Colo.; sons Kevin Matzdorff (Teresa) of Loveland, Bryan Donn Matzdorff (Kimberly) of Broomfield, Colo.; stepson, Donald J. Mroczko Jr. (Kathleen) of Fort Collins, Colo.; four brothers, Gerald Matzdorff, of Aurelia; Lyle Matzdorff of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; Verle Matzdorff of LeMars; Don Matzdorff of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson Carl Matzdorff (Shanda) and step-grandson Grayson Mroczko.
