AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldogs got off to a quick start in their football home opener here against Elk Horn-Kimballton on Friday, scoring on a 26 yard pass from Jared Bruce to his brother Aaron 2 1/2 minutes into the game.

An 18-yard TD pass from Jared Bruce to Alec Ohlson with 2:24 left in the first quarter gave Aurelia a 13-0 lead after one quarter, but the Danes bounced back with two TD runs by Jake Swanson to make the score 13-12. The Bulldogs made the score 20-12 at halftime, as the Bruce boys connected again on an 11-yard TD pass with 4:05 to go.

Alec Ohlson ran one in from two yards out to boost the Bulldog lead to 28 - 12 as the third quarter ended. The Danes' Carson Smith connected with Tyler Jensen for a 35 yard touchdown with 9:06 left in the game, and a successful two point conversion closed the Aurelia lead to 28-20 with plenty of time remaining.

Bulldog junior running back Ohlson, who ran for 140 yards on the night, picked up 55 of those yards on an impressive power sweep, led by Angelo Mikos' blocking. Ohlson sprinted down the sidelines for a touchdown with 6:26 remaining in the game, and that was the final score in the Bulldogs' 34-20 win.
