G-H XC girls win, boys second at Sioux Central meet

SIOUX RAPIDS - The talented Galva-Holstein girls won their division and the Pirate boys claimed second in their division of the Sioux Central Cross Country Invitational last week in Sioux Rapids.

Jessica Mathes led the G-H girls with her first-place finish in a time of 16:53, followed by Breanna Mathes fourth in 17:35, Jayde Boyle fifth in 17:37, and Maddy McAreavy eighth in 18:24. The Lady Pirates' Meagan Meyer was 12th in 19:23, Annie McAreavy 22nd in 20:13, and Sarah Forristal 26th in 20:32.

G-H won the girls title with 30 points, followed by Sioux Central 73, Southern Cal/Rockwell City-Lytton 74, Southeast Webster Grand 88, Alta 121, Laurens-Marathon 125, and Schaller-Crestland/Newell-Fonda incomplete.

John Harris led the G-H boys with a third-place finish in 18:28, followed by Andrew Galvin eighth in 19:33, Josh Mohr 16th in 20:07, Jamie Conlon 23rd in 20:50, Collin Bubke 25th in 21:01, Nate Braselton 28th in 21:17, and Isaiah Miller 40th in 22:37.

L-M won the boys title with 67 points, followed by G-H 75, SC 77, SC-RCL 91, SW-G 92, Alta 150, and SC-NF incomplete.

G-H also won the girls JV race, with Jamee Hunt first in 20:38, Shelby Bennett second n 21:14, Megan Schwanz fourth in 21:48, Hannah Klotz seventh in 23:43, and Sarah Galvin ninth in 24:45.

Leading runners for the G-H JV boys were Riley Cosgrove second in 22:26, Jon Klotz sixth in 22:51, Charlie Reich 12th in 25:00, and Ethan Todd 13th in 25:16.

In Middle School girls, Kate Mathes was eighth in 17:59, and Rachel Hunt ninth in 18:50. In MS boys, Kaleb Young was second in 14:24, Austin Drey fifth in 14:47, and Christian Egger sixth in 14:50.
