SLOAN - The Galva-Holstein Lady Pirates traveled to Sloan on Sept. 20 for a Maple Valley Conference match with Westwood, and swept the Rebels 25-21, 25-16, 26-24, improving their overall mark to 13-4 and their conference record to 8-1.
The Lady Pirates served at a 96.2% clip, with seven aces, had a 93/107 hitting mark, with 40 kills and had nine blocks.
Individual leasders were Heather Joslin with 13 kills and Brandi Wagoner 12, Lanae Broesder with 37 set assists, Lindsey Joslin with 28 digs, and Ashley Buell 18 digs. Wagoner had four blocks, and Lindsey Joslin had six ace serves.
Galva-Holstein coach Scott MItchell commented: "We served well tonight, with 96.2%. We played pretty good defense. Westwood did a nice job of mixing up their hits. I was glad to see that we didn't panic in game three when things got tight."
The G-H JV also won their match, 2-1, and the freshmen won 3-0. The JV now has a 3-1 season mark and the freshmen are 6-1.
The Lady Pirates compete in the River Valley Invitational in Correctionville Saturday Sept.22.
