Orville L. Gregg, 79, of rural Cherokee, died Sept. 23, 2007, at 9 a.m. at his home, following a lingering illness.

Memorial services were held Sept. 26th at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Larry Nilson officiated. Burial was at the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee.

Orville was born March 5, 1928 in Cherokee County, to Raymond and Emily (Gilbert) Gregg. He attended country school and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1946. He was married to Ellen Smith on Oct. 26, 1954 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, rural Cherokee.

His home was on a farm in Silver Township where he had lived for many years; wintering in Manhattan, Montana the past 10 years. He farmed for many years, retiring in 1993.

He enjoyed the many times he would visit his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was an active part of the Manhattan Bible Church in Montana the past 10 winters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Ellen, three children and their spouses: Roger and Cheryl Gregg of Yankton, S.D.; Kevin & Corriena Gregg of Ennis, Mont.; DeeAnn & Clayton Stinson of Bozeman, Mont.; six grandchildren, Rachel, Travis, Chelsee, Emily, Katie and Kyle; two brothers and one sister: Vernon Gregg and his wife Marlys of Cherokee; Lorace Gregg and his wife Arta of Cherokee; Clara Sudbeck of Ames.
