AURELIA - Aurelia coach Myron Radke said his Bulldog team "played hard-nosed football" in their 32-14 District win over Spalding Catholic here on Sept. 21. "Our defense," said the veteran coach, "did bend, but we did not break. It was a super team effort."
The Bulldogs trailed 8-6 after the first quarter of play, but scored three TDs in the second quarter and another in the third to take a 32-8 lead into the final quarter.
The 'Dogs had a balanced attack with 161 yards on the ground and 122 through the air. Their 283 yards of offense topped the Spartans' 155 yards, and they totaled 14 first downs to Spalding's 10.

Coach Radke was happy that 20 of his players were able to see game action, and said the team needs to keep their positive attitude going into this week's homecoming battle with District foe Remsen St. Mary's.
"St. Mary's," said Radke, "will be another battle to the end."
Aurelia's win boosted their season record to 3-1, and they are now 2-0 in 8-man, District 3 games.
Aurelia will have their Homecoming parade and Pep Rally, including the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen, on Thursday evening Sept. 27.
