HOLSTEIN - Coach Butch Faulkenberry said his Galva-Holstein Pirates "established the line of scrimmage early, and moved the ball all night" in their Sept. 21 37-0 win here over Maple Valley Conference foe Westwood.
Faulkenberry said the Pirates did not have to punt the ball all night and that the offense "was fairly balanced, and it appears we are improving."
Galva-Holstein running backs Sam Radke and Tanner Gebers each had close to 100 yards rushing, as the Pirates rolled up 290 yards on 45 rushing attempts. The defense held Westwood to 38 yards on 32 attempts.
Pirate QB John Forristal completed 5 of his 13 pass attempts for 96 yards, 2 TDs and one interception. Radke had three of the Pirate touchdowns, on runs of seven and 62 yards, and a 49-yard reception, while Gebers had two rushing touchdowns of five and nine yards, and Patrick McAreavy caught a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Adam Parker had 48-yard punt return and a 25-yard interception return, and Jared Sclinz had two interceptions.
G-H tacklers were paced by Ben Andresen with 15 total tackles, including two sacks; Gebers with 13; Kyle Yearous, 12; and Mark Cronin, 11.
The Pirates take on Woodbury Central at Moville on Sept. 28, and Faulkenberry said "We will need our best performance to get a win."
