HULL - The Cherokee cross country team ran at the rugged Hull Western Christian meet on Sept. 24, and finished in ninth place with 260 points.

Individually, in the boys varsity race, Nick O'Bryan placed 35th, in a time of 18:54, Zach Mosbach 49th in 20:00, Kody Sump 57th in 21:22, Cole Renken 59th in 21:38, and Calvin Conley 60th, also timed in 21:38.

The JV boys were led by Derek Rupp who placed 44th with a time of 21:48, Zach Dodd ran a 22:38 for 53rd, John Bieber was 67th in 23:38, and David Cook was 75th in 24:52.

The Middle School boys and girls ran in a meet in Spencer, and Shelby Rahn placed third in the girls' race, with a time of 15:37. Coach Deb Hankens commented that Rahn "continues to look impressive."

Cheyenne Mortenson ran in 17:26 to grab 14th place; Rebecka Warner took 18th in 18:00; Claudia Camuzano took 20th in 18:38, and Abby Hayes placed 30th in 22:34.

In the boys Middle School race, Jaden Lux, who Hankens says is "showing a lot of improvement as the season progresses," took 12th place with a time of 15:09, and Connor Ogren was 23rd, in 17:17.

Hankens said that the boys leading varsity runner Nate O'Bryan is still out with walking pneumonia, but that he did run part of Wednesday's workout and is hopeful he can run in the Cherokee Invitational on Tuesday.

The Cherokee Invitational is run on the course at the Mental Health Institute.
