GRANVILLE - The South O'Brien Wolverines played a tough War Eagle Conference volleyball match on the road on Sept. 23 against a scrappy Spalding Catholic team.
SOS coach Denise Erdmann said her team had a few serve receive errors and a few hitting errors in the first two games that gave Spalding the momentum to take those games, 25-21 and 25-19. The Wolverines rallied back to win game three, 25-21, but "unfortunately that didn't carry over into the fourth game," said the coach. The host Spartans won the final game of the match by a 25-11 score.
Erdmann complimented Spalding on their ability to keep the ball in play and their tough serving game.
Katie Tesch led the Wolverines' hitting attack with seven kills, while Briana Shriver, Rachel Tilley, Chelsie Rohrs and Carrie Egdorf had three each. Reagan Ebel had four ace serves, as well as 26 digs on defense. Aphton Roberts had 24 digs, Tilley had four blocks and Rohrs one, and Shriver had 15 assists and Kari Wester six for the Wolverines, who are now 3-10 overall and 2-3 in War Eagle Conference play.
