Dale R. "Toddy" Morrow, 79, of Cherokee, died on Oct. 9, 2007 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Ethan Sayler officiated.

Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Dale was born Sept. 27, 1928 in Cherokee County, to Frank D. and Dorothy (Wood) Morrow. He was married to Jean Helms on Feb. 21, 1953 at Storm Lake. Dale worked as a linotype operator for the Cherokee Daily Times for many years.

He had lived in Cherokee most of his life. He played a guitar in several small country bands over the years and enjoyed raising tropical fish. He liked to listen to country-western music and going fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean on Oct. 5, 1996, brothers Robert, Meredith, Lynn, Wallace, Frankie and Roy Morrow and sisters Audrey Lickiss, Joyce Hollenbeck, Betty Small, Donna Woodyard, Phyllis Morrow and Coleen Weiland.

He is survived by three sons: Kirby Morrow and his special friend Dawn Niemeier of Cherokee; Harlan "Bud" Morrow of Cherokee; Vincent Morrow and his wife Jeanne of LeMars; four grandchildren: Wendy, Hugh, Sara and Tina Morrow; one great granddaughter Natalie; a brother Dwight Morrow and his wife Rose of Crescent; a sister Dorothy Houser and her husband DeWayne of Mitchell, S.D., many nieces and nephews.
