AURELIA - Aurelia volleyball coach Tim Ireland said his team “played our best volleyball of the year in the first part of the first game” on Oct. 11 against Schaller-Crestland.
Unfortunately, Ireland said, the Bulldog girls “had a mental letdown, and never got it back,” ending their regular season by losing to their Northwest Conference foe by game scores of 19-25, 8-25, 9-25.
Arielle Megrath had six kills and Leah Kai five to pace Bulldog hitters. Kai also had four ace serves and two blocks on the defensive side. Tiffany Johnson led Bulldog setters with 32, including three for aces, and Erin Laursen had 26, two for aces.
Shelby Dierenfield and Laursen topped blockers with four apiece, and Johnson matched Kai’s two blocks.
The Bulldogs started tournament play on October 15.
