“It was a fun year” says Bulldog coach

LAURENS - The Aurelia Bulldogs completed their volleyball season Monday night when they lost 10-25, 12-25, 17-25 to the host Laurens-Marathon Chargers in Class 1A District Tournament play here.

Leah Kai and Arielle Megrath led Bulldog hitters, with Kai successfully landing 17 of 22 attacks and Megrath 10 of 10. Both seniors had one kill. Kai also led her team serving with a 10/10 performance, including two ace serves. Tiffany Johnson and Shelby Dierenfield both had two ace serves also.

Erin Laursen had 15 sets and Tiffany Johnson 10 to lead the Bulldogs in that category, and Johnson and Dierenfield each had three blocks on defense.

The Bulldog girls wrap up their season with a 1-6 Northwest Conference mark and an overall 2-13 record. Though Bulldog Coach Tim Ireland said “it would have been fun to win more games,” he also felt his team “kept a great attitude, and kept getting better” throughout the season.

In conclusion, Ireland said “It was a fun year. We have some great people on our team.”
