H.O. "Red" Edwards, 86, of Correctionville and formerly of Cherokee, died on Oct. 16, 2007 at his residence in Correctionville.
Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Tom Lewis officiated. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.
Red was born on June 20, 1921 at Correctionville, to Lawrence & Zelma Edwards. He graduated from Correctionville High School in 1940. He was married to Lottie Gregg on July 3, 1945 at Cherokee. Over the years he had many sales jobs and from 1960 until his retirement in 1975, he owned and operated the Derby Gas Station and Garage in Correctionville. Red had been a resident of Correctionville and Cherokee area most of his life. He was past mayor of Correctionville. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren; baseball, football, basketball and liked to watch Nascar Racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lottie on Sept. 26, 1987, sister Leila Bowen, brothers Cecil and Loyd Edwards, grandson Steve Roberts and a granddaughter Heather Edwards.
He is survived by his four children: Janie Fedde and her husband Ken of Cushing; Lon Edwards and his wife Cookie of Princeton, Ind.; Denny Edwards and his wife Wendy of Anthon; Karen Gray of Correctionville; four grandchildren: Tim Roberts, John Sangwin, Lance Edwards and Cory Edwards; eight great grandchildren; a special friend Vi Nelson of Cherokee, and a honorary granddaughter Bobbi Jo Lensing of Rudd; two brothers: Lawrence Edwards of Lawton, and Leslie Edwards of Correctionville.
