Margaret "Margie" Ann Ohlson, 84, died on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services for Margie were held on Oct. 24. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Cherokee.
Margie was born Aug. 26, 1923 in Cherokee, the only child of Sherman and Edna Gill Woltman. She graduated in 1940 from Wilson High School in Cherokee. She attended Buena Vista College for one year and then received her R.N. from St. Joseph's Mercy College of Nursing in 1944.
She married Filmore "Fil" Ohlson at Immaculate Conception in Cherokee, on March 5, 1946. They lived in Cherokee for many years before moving to Storm Lake in 1971. She spent many years as a nurse at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, patients, and friends.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband on June 7, 2001, and by her parents.
Survivors include her three sons â€" Danny L. of Portland, Ore.; Kelly of Fort Collins, Colo.; and Michael W. of West Union; daughters-in-law Linda Stanley and Joleen Ohlson, and that very special light in her life, her granddaughter Samantha Erin Ohlson.
