Aurelia falls hard in playoffs

Rugged Glidden-Ralston hits ‘Dogs, 56-6

GLIDDEN - Glidden-Ralston scored an incredible six touchdowns in the final eight minutes of the first quarter to explode all over the Aurelia Bulldogs 56-6 in first-round state playoff action in 8-player football here Tuesday night.

The flurry of Wildcat TDs gave the hosts a quick 44-09 lead and it was all over but the shouting. Aurelia scored its lone TD early in the fourth quarter, as the continuous clock ran for the last three periods, on a oneyard run by Steve White, the PAT Kick failing.

Glidden-Ralston opened the scoring on a three-yard TD run by Feilmeier, and followed that with a 13-yard run by Bock, a 45-yard punt return by Genter, a one-yard run by Feilmeier, and 32-yard pass from Lensch to Genter, and a five-yard run by Lensch.

The Wildcats scored again in the second quarter on a 19-yard run by Rohrbeck, and closed their scoring assault with two minutes left in the game on a 27-yard run by Genter.

The Bulldogs rushed 28 times for 91 yards in the game, and quarterback Jared Bruce was 12-32 passing for 139 yards. Aurelia tallied 11 first downs, to 10 by G-R.

The Wildcats rushed 39 times for 255 yards, and passed 3-3 for 52 yards.

Aurelia had four fumbles and lost two of those, and the Wildcats had three fumbles and lost one.

Leading receivers for the Bulldogs were Anthony Fowler with four catches for 53 yards, Camrin Meyer four catches for 47 yards, and Aaron Bruce four catches for 39 yards.

Aaron Bruce led the Aurelia defenders with a dozen tackles, while Nick Felton had 11, Jared Bruce nine, Steve White, Jason Glienke, and Camrin Meyer each six, and Jake Krukenberg and Fowler five each.

The Bulldogs end the successful season with a 7-3 record.
