MARCUS - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn cross country season ended on a high note, according to veteran Eagle coach Ric Collins, with big improvements showed for all Eagle runners.

"The returning runners are already planning for better times next season," noted Collins. "We ran in a very strong district at Holstein with 25 schools and more than 120 runners in each race."

MMC will work to replace four graduating seniors, including Jill Bird, Ben Mayer, Alissa Brady, and Steven Lively.

Team MVP Awards went to Bird and promising freshman Jay Welp. That duo led the Eagles at every cross country meet this past season. Welp placed 44th at the district meet to lead the MMC boys, and Bird led the girls with a 39th-place finish.
