Myrtle A. Goettsch, 97, of Holstein, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 9, 2007 at Holstein Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral Services were Thursday Nov. 15 at the Holstein United Methodist Church, with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating. Burial was in the Holstein Cemetery.

Myrtle Anna Goettsch was born Aug. 16, 1910 at Cushing, the daughter of Alfred and Regina (Hansen) Hass. Myrtle was baptized Sept. 20, 1920 at Highland Methodist Church Sacramento, Calif. The family returned to the family farm five miles Southwest of Cushing. Myrtle attended grade school at Battle Center and graduated from Cushing High School in 1928.

Myrtle and Raymond Goettsch were married Aug. 29, 1928 in Cherokee. They engaged in farming in the Holstein Area until retirement on 1959. To this union three children were born.

Myrtle enjoyed family, friends, handwork, cooking, baking cards and travel. Myrtle spent her last years at the Holstein Good Samaritan Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; four brothers, Lowell, Donald, Alfred Jr., Arnold; one sister, Effie Scherner and husband Clarence; on son, Robert S. Goettsch; daughter-in-law, Janice (Russenberger) Goettsch.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Kenneth D. Goettsch and wife Marilyn of Seal Beach, Calif.; daughter, DeAnna R. and husband James A. Nelson of Aurelia; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a Great-great-granddaughter; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Hass Jr., Mrs. Arnold Hass; and numerous nieces, nephews and countless special friends.
