Kenneth G. Beckman, 80, formerly of Larrabee, died on Nov. 17, 2007 in the Careage Hills Care Center, Cherokee, following a brief illness.
Services were held on Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with Pastor James Steen officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel American Lutheran Cemetery in Fulda, Minnesota.
Ken was born March 7, 1927 in Nobles County, near Fulda, Minn., to George and Lena (Luepke) Beckman. He attended school in Southwest Minnesota. Ken worked on farms near Fulda, Minn. for several years before moving to Sharon, Wis. where he also worked as a farm laborer.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, touring on the USS Pennsacola. On Feb. 4, 1948 he married Mable Just in Fulda, Minn. She preceded him in death May 26, 2004. They moved to Cherokee in 1976 and Ken began working for Holzhauer Motor Co. until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and American Legion Post # 0670.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers (Bill, Albert, Otto) a sister (Millie).
Survivors include his son, Arlan Beckman, and his wife, Barb, of Cedar Rapids;
Leann Beckman, and her husband, Bob, of Spencer; grandchildren, Aaron Beckman, Amber Luepke, Benjamin and Shannon Beckman.
