SOS girls lose close opener

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

PAULLINA - The South O'Brien girls, who coach Julie Paulsen said "have come a long way in the last two weeks" played a good game against Sibley-Ocheydan here on Tuesday night, losing by a score of 49-46 to the Generals.

Coach Paulsen said Sibley-Ocheyedan had a "fairly good sized post who caused us some damage," as SOS has very little experience in the post position. Experience is a problem all-around for the Wolverines, as Paulsen said "most of the time I had at least three girls out on the court without any varsity experience."

Despite the lack of experience, though, the hard-working Wolverines never gave up, impressing their coach with their effort. Katie Tesch had 10 points and four steals for SOS. Chelsie Rohrs and Kari Wester both scored eight, and Megan McCauley pulled down seven rebounds.

Coach Paulsen expects the hard-working Wolverines to improve each game.
