HINTON - The River Valley Wolverines lost their season opener to what RV coach Dean Norris called a "talented" Hinton team, 79-45 on Monday.
Norris added that it was a "tough way to start the season, as turnovers and a lack of rebounding led to defeat."
Tyler Clark and Zach Hullinger both scored 11 points to share scoring honors for the Wolverines, and Anthony Volkert and Clark each snared five rebounds to pace the team in that area.
The Wolverines made 50% of their two-point field goal attempts, but were only 2-11 (18.18%) on three-point attempts and 50% from the free throw line. The team also committed 21 turnovers.
Norris noted that the team's tough early schedule continues this week with Maple Valley Conference games against Lawton-Bronson and Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto.
