REMSEN - The River Valley girls team got off to a 10-0 lead over Remsen-Union in basketball action here on Tuesday, and led all the way - leading 14-6, 29-14, and 41-28 at the quarter breaks, before closing out a 54-35 Maple Valley Conference victory over the Rockets.
Wolverine coach Terry Jensen said his team "did a good job of getting the ball inside," led by Alissa Slota's seven assists. Emily Todd scored 15 points to lead the Wolverine scoring, followed by Jody Peterson with 13.
Slota and Charlie Brewer led the rebounding effort with seven boards each. Coach Jensen said that rebounding and free throow shooting are two areas in which the team needs to improve. RV hit 8 of 21 (38%) from the line.
River Valley now has a season record of 2-2, and are 2-0 in Maple Valley Conference.
