The Australian retail store chain Westaff is already backing off on its policy of not allowing store Santas to say 'Ho, ho, ho.' The Santas in training were informed that the term 'Ho' might be offensive to women.
This is one of those self-correcting controversies when public exposure of a ridiculous, politically correct policy causes withdrawal of that policy.
Westaff executives are now claiming the directive to Santas was merely a suggestion to be left to the direction of the individual Santa.
It might even serve a public function for such an event to be publicized on occasion.
Hopefully, such an event causes us to think about the need for our actions to meet common sense requirements.
Unfortunately, common sense does not always prevail.
