Barnes/MJM Rodeo stock shines
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nine placings and $6,140 were won on Barnes/MJM bucking stock at the recent Great Lakes Circuit Finals during the North American Livestock Show here.
The Great Lakes Rodeo Circuit consists of nine states, with rodeo bucking stock selected from seven stock contracting companies for the 2007 Great Lakes Circuit Finals.
Barnes PRCA Rodeo & MJM Rodeo bucking stock brought home $1,700 in GLRC awards to Cherokee County. Selected as the #1 saddle bronc for 2007 in the Great Lakes Circuit was Barnes #D8 Cat Power. Receiving second-place saddle bronc honors was MJM #1ZO Cherokee Wild. Barnes bull #173 Red Horse received first-place honors for 2007, and Barnes bull #402 Red Rabbit was second best. Barnes bareback horse #340 Bow Tie also received second-place honors.
The first performance at the GLRC Finals saw Tim Wilkinson of Steelville, Mo., winning the bareback riding on Barnes #2B1 Toddler for $1,018.79; Tyler Corrington of Hasting, Minn., rode MJM 2J8 Double Identity for first and $891.44; Jason Kircher of Comstock, Wisc., won first in bull riding on MJM #11 Eclipse; J-Byrd Morrow of Wayland, Ia., was fourth in bull riding on Barnes #K32 David; Jake Gee bucked off 2B7 Barnes Young Again in bareback riding, and MJM saddle bronc #2Z8 Kyla bucked off Sean Prater.
The second performance saw Josh Schackleford of McGee, Mo., ride MJM 1J7 Valpo Johnny for 85 score, splitting 2/3 in bareback riding. In the saddle bronc riding Kirk Nelson split 2/3 on Barnes #N1 Light Ballou, and Cody Rud won fourth on MJM #1AO Black Hawk. Byron Gilliland was bucked off MJM 1YO No Ballou, and Barnes 36R Twilight Rose bucked off Tyler Corrington. Jeremy Gilreath of Sebeka, Minn., rode Barnes bull #173 Red Horse for fourth place. Jason Kircher bucked off MJM bull #0 Way Out.
Corrington won first in the saddle bronc riding the third and final performance on Barnes #D8 Cat Power with 84 points. Wade Sundell bucked off MJM #334 Little Stone, and Travis Trampel bucked off MJM #2V8 Golden Valley. Kircher bucked off Barnes bull #402 Red Rabbit.
Lucas Oil Rodeo in Wheatland, Mo., received the Best New Rodeo of the Great Lakes Circuit. They added $21,000 with a total purse of $37,915 with 235 contestants. This is the fourth year a Barnes/MJM Rodeo production received this award.
